What is CrossFit?

CrossFit begins with a belief in fitness. The aim of CrossFit is to forge a broad, general and inclusive fitness. We have sought to build a program that will best prepare trainees for any physical contingency — not only for the unknown, but for the unknowable. After looking at all sport and physical tasks collectively, we asked what physical skills and adaptations would most universally lend themselves to performance advantage. Capacity culled from the intersection of all sports demands would quite logically lend itself well to all sport. In sum, our specialty is not specializing.

Mike-Bolte-CrossFit-Coach

Mike Bolte found CrossFit in 2006 while looking for a new program to prepare him for the challenges he faces daily in his career as a firefighter/paramedic with the Newark Fire Division, where he is a Captain. With no facilities in Licking County at the time Mike began training out of his garage. The benefits of CrossFit’s methodology quickly became apparent, and Mike began recruiting friends and family as training partners. As his passion grew around CrossFit so did his number of training partners, and the demand for a coach, so Mike became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. Mike has competed and won local fitness competitions, and his garage gym was featured on CrossFit.com. He is really looking forward to helping others on their CrossFit journey. Mike is a graduate of Hocking College where he studied fire and emergency services. Mike resides with his wife Devon and their four children, in Newark.

John Wysocki CrossFit Coach

John Wysocki has been involved with CrossFit since June 2010 when he was exposed to the various workouts and standards while serving on active duty with the US Navy Explosive Ordinance Disposal Training Unit Two in Fort Story, VA.  He has earned his Level 1 trainer and CrossFit Kids trainer certifications and enjoys coaching students of various ages and abilities. John specializes in bringing those into CrossFit who have become frustrated with trying to exercise on their own and desire to try something new and challenging, regardless of their current fitness level. He has served over 13 years with the US Navy and was a former command fitness leader along with an honor graduate of several military schools which focused on physical training and development for combat operations.  John was a Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy Reserve, served twice in Afghanistan and awarded The Bronze Star medal for his service in 2008. He is a 1995 graduate of The Ohio State University.  John lives in Newark with his wife Carrie and their three daughters, all of whom CrossFit.

Josh Weaver CrossFit Coach

Josh Weaver was introduced to CrossFit in August of 2011 by his neighbor/lifting partner. He instantly fell in love with how challenging the workouts were, as well as how it demands the body to do so many different movements. Josh trained on his own while attending school in South Carolina. He has always enjoyed helping others out at the gym and would encourage friends and family to come workout with him. Josh soon realized he could help train others with CrossFit methodology and earned his Level 1 certification. After graduating from the Golf Academy of America in December of 2012, Josh returned home to the Licking Valley area and began coaching at CrossFit Newark in January 2014.

Lindsay-Black-CrossFit-Coach

Lindsay Black discovered CrossFit in July of 2012 after her brother’s urging to try it out. As a high school athlete and runner, she was looking for something different to find new fitness goals. She soon discovered what she loved about CrossFit. She found that CrossFit challenged her, physically and mentally, on a daily basis. This kept her coming back for more. Not only did she begin to see incredible strength develop, but also loved the community aspect of CrossFit. After crossfitting a year, Lindsay convinced her partner Josh to begin and they were instrumental in the development of CrossFit Newark. Lindsay became a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in March of 2014 and was eager to begin coaching classes! In 2011, she earned a Bachelors Degree of Business Administration at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. In addition to coaching, she is currently pursuing her Masters of Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. She and Josh reside in Newark with four adorable four-legged friends.

Rates

Stop in for our $5 Fridays!!! Any other day is only $10 to drop in for non-members, but your first trial is always FREE!!

Adult Rates

Single Rate: $60/month – Unlimited


Family Rate: $110/month – Unlimited


Please note if you are paying for a membership after the 10th of the month the rates are prorated. You will need to pay for membership at the box.

CrossFit Kids

  • First Child: $45/month
  • Second Child: $35/month
  • Third Child: $25/month
  • And $10/child for any additional child

Classes for ages 6-11 on Tuesday/Thursday at 4:30pm and ages 12-17 on Monday/Wednesday/Friday at 4:30pm. CrossFit Kids Classes are limited.

Sessions begin the 1st of every month, but you can arrange for a free trial at any time for the currently scheduled CF Kids and Teens classes. Please email John for further questions and inquiries.
